Well this is my 7 port usb hub that is connected to my iMac which comes with 4 ports standard. I have two ports left on my 7 port and then I am out. What could one person possibly have to fill 10 usb ports. Well I will tell you:

Wireless mouse, DSLR camera, musical keyboard, usb hub, printer, audio receiver for music keyboard, microphone, keyboard, external hard drive and my iphone. I could technically add my ipad as well but I share the iphone cable on that one.

I might be adding another one of our Hubtra 7 port hubs soon seeing that all devices these days seem to be using USB technology. Based on the response we get on our website I am not the only one who has this same problem. Lots of USB devices, not enough ports.

It is amazing how right after the holidays sales of USB hubs really pick up. With more and more USB devices on the market people are in need of more USB ports now than ever. Lucky for us that the most popular Christmas gifts are ones that include a USB cable.

With the addition of the iPad, the ever popular iPods and iPhones, not to mention products not created by Steve Jobs, USB ports are disappearing at an alarming rate. It is surprising that computer manufacturers don’t put more USB ports into computers but with all of the other ports they have to include there simply isn’t a cost benefit to adding more.

So as owners of USB peripherals come to us to purchase our 7 port USB hub it doesn’t surprise us at all that it is happening more often right after Christmas. There comes a point where you just don’t want to reach behind your computer to switch out USB cables and having one central location where everything is plugged in helps organize your work area.

So don’t fret if you got a new iPad, a Kindle, and mp3 player and a new wireless mouse for Christmas only to find out you only had 3 USB ports on your computer, just get yourself a 7 port USB hub and you should be covered, at least for a little while.

Those who have a Mac have only a limited amount of USB ports. They may want to connect printers, fax machines, copy machines and scanner. Or, they may want to connect portable devices such as cell phones, portable music devices or digital cameras. Unfortunately, most hubs only are compatible with a Windows operating system. It is highly recommended to search for a USB hub for a Mac.

Users may find such a USB hub online or at brick and mortar stores. Most nationwide known retail stores commonly carry devices such as USB hubs. Electronic and computer retail outlets also carry USB hubs. More than likely, they will have a USB hub for a Mac. However, users can search online for these types of hubs. They will find a wide variety of retailers, brands and prices.

Users should keep in mind the features they want when searching for a USB hub. Features include software, user’s guide, A/C cable and USB cable. If users do not want to deal with any cables, then they should search for a USB hub that is wireless. Having a wireless USB hub prevents trips and falls in the home or in a business. However, other types of USB hubs may come with a battery instead.

The first benefit of a USB hub for a Mac includes is that they have multiple USB ports. Users may choose whether they want a 4-, 6- or 7-port USB hub. Some USB hubs may also have 10 ports. This allows them to connect a variety of devices to their personal computers or laptops. Having multiple ports is a big benefit for large families or businesses.

The last benefit of such a USB hub is that it comes with fast uploads. Users have the ability upload music, videos, documents, pictures and other files at 480 megabytes per second or more. This means that they can upload multiple files to their computers if they choose to. This also allows the ease of sharing amongst colleagues, students, friends and family members. Fast speeds work on either 1.1 or 2.0 USB ports.

How Many USB Products Do You Have?

How many USB products do you have – maybe twenty? People would be quite fascinated at the actual amount of USB products that are in their homes. We use these devices for so many different jobs in our everyday life that it’s ridiculous. You will be utterly amazed at the wide variety of USB products that are actually available.

Has anyone ever heard of a missile launcher? If so, then you would probably not consider it to be a USB related device. Well think again because there are tons of different kinds of foam toys that can shoot a fake missile with the click of a button. People would never have expected such a cool little toy to be operated through the universal port in a computer.

Are you looking for a more versatile paper shredder? Then try a paper shredding machine that can be easily operated through the universal port located on your computer. This type of device would be small enough to fit into almost any bag or purse and would still be able to handle any job.

If you thought the last few items discussed were cool, then you wont believe what I am about to talk about next. Regardless of whether we want to admit it or not, a majority of rooms that we live in or occupy have some type of negative odor. In order to combat this problem, innovators have even been able to develop the technology capable of controlling an air freshener from a computer. This USB product is simply amazing – who would have thought that such devices could be controlled through a universal port.

Most people who pay for wireless internet services know that they can simply plug in a special USB device that will allow them access to the internet. However, very few people know that a mouse can be controlled as well. All you have to do is plug it in and you are ready to navigate your laptops programs. If this isn’t quite advanced enough for you, then you could try out a wireless mouse as well. All that you would have to do is plug in the USB product and the gadget will emit a signal that the mouse will pick up. Once a good connection is established, the mouse should work without the tangled mess of a cord. When it comes to USB related products, the possibilities are practically endless.

This is what makes USB hubs such a necessary item. Computers don’t come standard with enough USB ports and so our 4 port usb hubs and 7 port hubs give you the extra ports that you need.

All of the laptops and computers produced today come fully equipped with at least one USB port, usually several. So what exactly can you do with all of these ports? You may not know the extent of products that are out there to be used with these ports. These USB ports come in very handy when performing tasks such as transferring data or downloading sites.

There are many different products that can be used with USB ports. One of the most popular of these products is a flash drive. Flash drives plug directly into your USB port and allow you to access all of the files contained on that drive. This makes transferring information from one computer to another very easily. Many digital cameras also take advantage of the USB ports on your computer. The cameras often come with a transfer cord that plugs into your camera on one end and your USB port on the other.

Once plugged in, you can download all of the pictures from your camera directly to your computer with ease. GPS systems are also generally equipped with this type of cord. The advantage of this is that it makes downloading new maps and keeping your system updated with the latest data much simpler. One of the newer products among USB compatible products is glucose meters. These USB meters plug directly into your port and allow you to easily chart your readings. Another advantage of these meters is that you can easily upload your numbers to email to your doctor for analysis. USB products are also available that help you in a work setting.

One of these products is a USB barcode pen scanner. This product allows you to keep inventory easily and help to maintain organization in your work place. You can also get a barcode scanner to use with your USB port. These scanners are larger and can scan a barcode up to 6 inches away.

There are many more products out there that are used in conjunction with your USB port. These USB products can make relatively difficult tasks much simpler and hassle free.

Not Enough USB Ports?

With the increasing amount of USB products available out there, there is an increasing demand for a greater number of ports. Most laptops are equipped with two to three USB ports and for many, this is simply not enough. If you find yourself in this situation then there is a perfect product out there for you called a USB hub. This product increases the amount of USB ports that you can use on your computer.

The device simply plugs directly into a USB port and then you have three or more additional ports. However, you must keep in mind that because you must plug the hub into a port, you are creating one less additional port that the number on the hub. There are many different USB hubs available on the market that offers a different amount of extension and different properties. One type of USB hub is a clip on hub.

These hubs plug into your computer and then have a fairly long cord allowing you to clip the extensions onto your desk or wherever you need the extensions. This allows you keep the area around your computer free of clutter giving you more work space. Another type of hub is a swivel hub. With the swivel hub, the hub plugs into your computer and the additions are right there with your other ports. The advantage of the swivel is that the additions can be turned to the right or the left to keep your other ports on your computer clear from obstructions.

And finally, you can purchase a travel USB hub. These hubs plug into your computer and have a flexible wire leading a small disk of additions. This flexible wire allows you to move your computer freely without breaking the extensions or damaging you computer.

There are many different styles of USB hubs available; you simply need to find the one that suits your personal needs.

Since there is such a high demand for usb hubs in the world we decided to see just which laptop makers were putting more USB 2.0 ports on their computers. When we mention USB 2.0 please understand that every computer only puts USB 2.0 ports on their computers but some people just want to see the number so we write it.

Here is the rundown of laptop computers and the number of USB ports that come with each:

3-4 USB Ports

Compaq Presario

3 USB Ports

Lenovo Thinkpad Series

2-3 USB Ports

I looked at Dell’s website to find out how many USB ports each of their laptops have but for some reason they don’t give that information out. You could probably find it if you call them but it seemed like too much trouble.

Conclusion

If laptop is your preference for a computer then you may need to look into getting a 4 port or 7 port USB hub as you will find most laptops come with only 2-4 USB ports. With so many peripherals using the USB technology you are forced to upgrade to more ports. One of the advantages of using a USB hub is that you can plug everything into the hub at home and then when you need the portability of the laptop you just unplug the hub from your computer and go.
