They say you can connect up to 127 devices to a computer. Just about any
computer that you buy today comes with one or more Universal Serial
Bus connectors. These USB connectors let you attach accessories to your
computer quickly and easily. I love using a USB hub so I never have to unplug
a device. When most people think about products that use an USB cable they
think of:

Cell phones

IPods

Memory stick

Mice

Keyboards

Printers

Joysticks

Rudder pedals

Digital cameras

Webcams

Camcorders

Scientific data acquisition devices

GPS

Speakers

Throttle quadrants

Storage devices

Network connections

Well let me just tell you there are more unique USB products that have been
invented, that you don’t see every day. Have you ever heard of the USB
heating blanket, gloves and slippers? My hands and feet are always cold so
these gloves are perfect they feature a cozy open-end half finger design with
cover flap design, with a 2 meters USB cable, allows your fingers to move
easily with normal dexterity. Use fold over flap to warm your fingertips.

The gloves are designed to keep your hands warm, while you are need to complete
your computer work in cold weather or an air-conditioned room, the gloves
reach 46′C within 5 minutes, and maintain a comfortable temperature without
burring or harming your hands? No more icy hand in cold weather. Plug
and play. Pull out the attached USB connector, and plug them straight into
your USB port. Crafted with quality fleece, which can be cleaned safely with
water (while not in operation), separate USB connection for each glove, each
glove contains two warming pads that operate on safe and reliable 5 volt USB
power.

What if you like your office cool but you sit by the window and the sun hits
your back or you are going through menopause and have hot flashes. If you
want a safe but cool alternative to an under desk fan, grab the USB Foam Fan
and have it right on your desk. With child-safe blades made from dense but
pliable foam, they spin and generate a cool, soft breeze keeping you relaxed at
your desk at home or in the office.

Have you even experienced dry hands, dry mouths, dry skin, etc. in dry
seasons or even in an air-conditioned rooms and offices? This is a quite
unpleasant problem not only for girls but men also. Thus, you need a USB
Mini-Cool Aroma Humidifier. It generates cool, moisturizing steam using safe
ultrasonic waves so as to help relieve dry skin, eyes, mouth and throat. It
makes breathing more comfortable.

Moreover, you can add your favor fragrance oil into this Aroma Humidifier.
This is the perfect way to set the mood of your living environment. It is
compact and portable that ideal for travelers too!

Do you throw away your cold drinks when they get warm or have to
microwave your hot drinks because they are cold? Now you can use the USB
Beverage Warmer/Cooler. It comes in a durable compact design and it’s
completely portable with a built in cooling fan and an easy on easy off control.
There is also a USB Fridge that fits most pop cans. Just seconds after plugging
in the Fridge, the cold plate chills to the perfect temperature for helping keep
your beverage cool. Ideal for keeping your drink chilled as you work.

There is a world of life inside your keyboard, biscuit crumbs, bits of
yesterday’s sandwich, coffee spills and all sorts of other undesirable muck
that floats in un-invited. The USB Bendi Light-up Keyboard however is a
virtually indestructible waterproof gizmo that’s clean, flexible and best of all,
it lights up! Glowing a sumptuous electric blue you can now type silently (no
noisy key clunking) into the night. It doesn’t need any software, you just plug
it in to your computer or laptop and enjoy the glow, or show, or both.

My favorite find is a USB Spy Pen Video Camera it is only of any use if it
actually looks like a pen (so many don’t), and this one is indistinguishable
from the real thing. It even comes with three ink refills, so it’s perfectly
acceptable as your normal work pen. The Spy Pen Video Camera might not
make you a spy, but all the wizardry inside will make you at least consider a
new hat and a pseudonym.

USB devices have appeared so quickly and completely that it is hard to remember electronics or
technology ever existing without them. For many, the first time a USB device ever appeared was when
the more technologically savvy peer in a college study group casually saved the hours of work on a flash
drive instead of the mainstream floppy disks of the day. Even the single port the flash drive plugged into
was an awe of modern technology. Today the standard low end desktop or laptop computer comes
standard with a USB hub with no less than 2 ports for USB devices to be plugged into.

Even with the increased storage capacity of the flash drives over the floppy disks, it wasn’t until
the revolution of the USB devices that USB ports became the new standard. Almost overnight compact
disks were replaced when everyone from children to the elderly replaced their portable CD players and
boom boxes to an MP3 player or more specifically the iPod. IPods brought the digital age to life with a
whole new sound quality, music capacity and accessibility. The catch, iPods required computers with
USB Hubs or ports to plug into in order to download music and recharge.

Additionally, the introduction of digital cameras into the market place with their high definition
pictures and their high quantity of picture capacity replaced film as the standard and a new demand for
the ability to download pictures on personal computers immediately arose in which the high capacity
USB port was utilized very efficiently.

On top of storage, music, and pictures, came a whole new generation of USB utilizing devices.
After the success of the merging of iPods with cell phones with the introduction of the iPhone and the
new way of life the accompany smart phones brought with it, personal computers are no longer the only
hardware equipped with the high functioning USB hubs. One example are gaming devices such as the
more recent Xbox 360’s which have USB hub’s attached allowing USB devices to be used to play movies,
music and other auxiliary functions. In fact, so prevalent are USB hubs that Honda Civics now offers a
standard USB port to connect a USB device for the convenience of the passengers. In short, USB hubs,
with their accompanying advanced devices are no longer the future but are a great present reality.

Well this is my 7 port usb hub that is connected to my iMac which comes with 4 ports standard. I have two ports left on my 7 port and then I am out. What could one person possibly have to fill 10 usb ports. Well I will tell you:

Wireless mouse, DSLR camera, musical keyboard, usb hub, printer, audio receiver for music keyboard, microphone, keyboard, external hard drive and my iphone. I could technically add my ipad as well but I share the iphone cable on that one.

I might be adding another one of our Hubtra 7 port hubs soon seeing that all devices these days seem to be using USB technology. Based on the response we get on our website I am not the only one who has this same problem. Lots of USB devices, not enough ports.

It is amazing how right after the holidays sales of USB hubs really pick up. With more and more USB devices on the market people are in need of more USB ports now than ever. Lucky for us that the most popular Christmas gifts are ones that include a USB cable.

With the addition of the iPad, the ever popular iPods and iPhones, not to mention products not created by Steve Jobs, USB ports are disappearing at an alarming rate. It is surprising that computer manufacturers don’t put more USB ports into computers but with all of the other ports they have to include there simply isn’t a cost benefit to adding more.

So as owners of USB peripherals come to us to purchase our 7 port USB hub it doesn’t surprise us at all that it is happening more often right after Christmas. There comes a point where you just don’t want to reach behind your computer to switch out USB cables and having one central location where everything is plugged in helps organize your work area.

So don’t fret if you got a new iPad, a Kindle, and mp3 player and a new wireless mouse for Christmas only to find out you only had 3 USB ports on your computer, just get yourself a 7 port USB hub and you should be covered, at least for a little while.

A Powered USB hub is an ergonomic and extremely useful tool that can expand a USB port into 3, 4, or even 5 more ports for use. Effectively considered an extension cord for USB, it’s most useful to people with lots of USB powered items that need to be put into good use.

There are two main types of ways to power a USB hub. A bus-powered hub is a type of USB hub that gains it’s power from a computers USB port. This is useful because it’s completely self sustaining, however, a lot of devices need more power than a device like this can provide, so high powered USB items are effectively put out of use by a bus-powered hub. The second type of a powered USB hub is called a self-powered USB hub. These type of USB hubs draw all of their power from an external power source attached to the hub itself, usually into a wall outlet. These can be useful if a bus-powered hub doesn’t provide enough power, but be warned that self-powered USB hubs tend to be more expensive. Also, consider the fact of outlet space. If you don’t have an open electrical outlet, self-powered USB hubs may not be feasible for your situation.

High capacity Powered USB hubs are also available. In extremely rare cases, hubs can reach the size of over 100 additional USB ports. The maximum amount of USB ports in a network is 127, which is a number usually reserved for extremely high-need operations. An interesting question to think about when considering that massive number is the speed factor. To effectively provide a reasonable amount of speed to all of these ports, USB 2.0 is generally used, which supersedes the previous 1.1 version. However, one should take caution as a USB 1.1 device will not become high speed simply by inserting it into a USB 2.0 port.

In conclusion, Powered USB hubs can be very useful for people with the need to expand their USB network. Be it the average consumer or a large company, they make a very viable purchase.

Sometimes users need to connect multiple electronic and portable devices to their personal computers and laptops. Those who have limited USB ports may consider purchasing a wireless USB hub. A wireless USB hub has many benefits and features. It is ideal for those who need to use multiple USB ports at home or at work.

The first benefit of a wireless USB hub is obvious. It is wireless. This means that users no longer have to deal with multiple cables and wires. They will no longer have to worry about children, pets or the elderly tripping and falling in the home. The fact that it is wireless allows users to bring this portable device with them to the library, to work or at the café.

The second benefit of the wireless USB hub is that it is compatible with a variety of operating systems. This means that users can use it with Windows or Mac. Some USB hubs may also work with Linux operating systems. This is ideal for those who have two different types of computers, or are considering purchasing another computer later in life. This also allows the ease of sharing files amongst friends and family members.

Features of a USB wireless hub include software, user’s guide and a battery. However, the USB hub may run strictly on Wi-Fi, which means that the user will need to have wireless Internet running through his or her home. The user’s guide and software helps users to quickly and easily set up the hub for instant access. All they need to do is insert the CD into their personal computers’ drives. The installation wizard will then guide them through the process.

Those interested in a USB wireless hub can find them either online or at retailers nationwide. Both computer and electronic retailers also carry these types of hubs. They may also want to purchase them at online computer and electronic retailers if they want to “comparison shop”. Comparison shopping allows them to look at the varying brands, features and prices.

In this world of technology, people have multiple devices. They not only use a computer, but they use a copy machine, a fax machine, a printer, and a scanner. On top of that, they may use portable devices such as cell phones, digital cameras and MP3 players. This becomes difficult for those—especially families—who have a limited amount of USB ports on the computer. A 7 port USB hub helps users connect multiple devices to their personal computers or laptops.

The features of a 7 port USB hub is as follows: it has seven ports, software, guidebook and user’s guide. The seven ports work with any portable or electronic device with a 2.0 USB cable. The guidebook and software guides users through easy and fast set up with the USB hub. Depending on the brand name, the USB hub may come with an A/C cable. However, some may run off of a battery.

The first benefit of a 7 port USB hub is that it is compatible with most operating systems. This is ideal for users who use both a Mac and Windows operating system. They have the ability to transfer the USB hub between computers. If portable, users can use the device at libraries, at work or while on the go. This is also a benefit for those who want to purchase a different operating system down the line.

The next benefit of this USB hub is that it is compatible with both 2.0 and 1.1 USB ports. This device can backtrack to a 1.1 USB port if necessary. No longer do users have to search for a USB hub that is compatible with a certain type of USB port. Not only is it compatible with a 1.1 USB port, but it uploads at speeds up to 480 megabytes per second (Mbps). This means that they have the ability to upload multiple files at once, if they choose.

Those interested in a 7 port USB hub may find them at retailers nationwide. Some retailers include Kmart, Walmart and Sears. Electronic and computer retailers also carry 7 port USB hubs.

Hub USB is practical for todays’ electronic devices, and makes ports conveniently accessible. They are also very surprisingly affordable at a price range between $14.00 and $62.00. This device makes it possible to turn a single port into 4 to 7 ports. This allows for more devices to be connected to the host system.

A Hub for USB can extend your network to up to 127 individual ports. Most ports that are already on your desktop are located at the back of the computer. With a USB Hub, one can connect to the port in the back of the computer, and extend up to 7 ports to the front or side of the computer. This will allow for the attaching of peripheral devices like printers, faxes, and scanners to be supported by the same network.

There are primarily two types of hubs. There is the self-powered hub that derives its power from a wall outlet. These will usually provide up to 500 milliamps at each port. Then there is the bus-powered hubs. These plug in to the computers’ USB bus and obtain all their power from the bus. These ports have to split the total 500 milliamps among the ports.

The self powered hub can connect to digital cameras, card readers, keyboards, mice, MP3′s, and memory sticks. The major consideration in the purchase of a Hub USB, is whether it is 1.1 or 2.0 compatible. The 1.1 compatible are capable of transferring data at speeds up to 12 megabits per second.

The 2.0 compatible have the ability to transfer data at speeds up to 480 megabits per second. The 2.0 is also backwards compatible. This means that they have the ability to read and translate the 1.1. While they can read and transmit 1.1 data, they cannot make their speeds any faster. The 1.1 has the 12 megabit capability, and with the 2.0 it retains that 12 megabit capacity.

Hub USB’s typically come in 4 and 7 port abilities. They all perform pretty much the same task. It just depends on how many external devices one needs to hook up.
